BEAUTY PRODUCTS WHICH DON’T TEST ON ANIMALS

February 19, 2019 Leave a Comment

I am gigantic animal lover and whenever possible, I purchase beauty brands which do not test on animals. And I am positive I am not the only beauty lover who aims to stick with brands which do not test on animals. But many people do not know which brands are currently cruelty free. So here are a few brands that will make you beautiful while still being kind to animals.

  1. ELF – skincare, brushes and cosmetics. You can get it all with ELF cosmetics at a reasonable price without your product being tested on animals. Not only do they not test on animals, but ELF does not endorse such products. The products do not contain animal derived ingredients. The beeswax has been replaced with synthetic beeswax and lanolin has been replaced by Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladinpale-2. So the next time you are shopping for loose powder or eyeshadow, save a few dollars and purchase a product from a company kind to animals;
  2. Kat Von D – who doesn’t like Kat Von D cosmetics?  The makeup is high-quality, but not tested on animals. And the Kat Von D products are totally free of animal-derived ingredients. She got rid of common cosmetic ingredients such as beeswax and carmine (red dye made from beetles) and chose kinder alternatives without compromising color.
  3. Urban Decay – this brand is cruelty-free and committed to ending animal testing. Not only does Urban Decay not test their products on animals, but the company refuses to allow other to test on their behalf. Plus, Urban Decay require their suppliers to certify the raw materials used in the manufacturing of their products are not tested on animals. It is also certified by PETA as cruelty-free.
  4. NYX – another cruelty-free brand is NYX.  Way before society raised the question of animal testing, NYX was committed to new methods of assessing safety without the need of testing on animals. In 1989, NYX ceased testing its products on animals.  About 14 years before regulation required it.  As of today, the company no longer tests its ingredients on animals, nor do they tolerate any exception to this rule.
  5. Wet N’ Wild – the cosmetic company NEVER tests on animals. They never had and never will test on animals. Not only are the products cruelty-free, but vegan as well.  So the next time you are on the Wet N’ Wild website, click on that adorable bunny symbol and feel safe in knowing you are getting glammed up with a cruelty-free product.

Those are just a handful of cosmetics which are cruelty-free. Anyone can make you beautiful in a cost-effective way manner. So go out there and make a difference today.

WANDS FOR WILDLIFE

PREFACE

I first want to apologize for being so absent. I have had a lot going on in my personal life, which could not be avoided. I’d like to regain your trust and let you know I will make every attempt for this not to happen again. Now on to the fun stuff!

WANDS FOR WILDLIFE

Think twice before throwing away those old mascara wands. Wands For Wildlife in North Carolina are collecting the wands and using them to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of wild animals. The agency uses the wands as the bristles are close together.

Please make sure you thoroughly clean the wands in warm, soapy water to get rid of residual mascara. CAUTION – make sure the correct postage amount is on the package. Many of the packages are arriving with postage due in which the organization has to cover. Also, make sure you completely fill out the form, which can be found on their website – www.appalachianwild.org.

ELF JELLY AND BAKED HIGHLIGHTERS. ARE THEY UP TO PAR?

January 24, 2019 Leave a Comment

Purchased by Me

The ELF Cosmetic brand is known for good quality at reasonable prices.  The ELF brand relatively recently introduced a jelly highlighter and a baked highlighter to the market.  But which one is superior to the other?

First, let’s take a look at the Elf Baked Highlighter.  It claims to create a “radiant” glow, giving your skin a sheer wash of shimmering coloring.  It can be applied wet for a more vivid appearance or dry for a more subtle appearance.  When I applied the ELF Baked Highlighter dry, I did not get any payoff.  The baked powder was so pale I could not see any shimmer. Even after multiple layers, I still did not have any payoff. Now, when I applied the ELF Baked Highlighter wet, I received a light finish.  It was not so wet where it was over the top, but had just enough payoff to appear natural.  The ELF Baked Highlighter retails for $4.00, and may be purchased at Target, Amazon and www.elfcosmetics.com.

The ELF Jelly Highlighter was a different story. From the moment the highlighter jelly touched my skin, there was a luminous effect on my skin.  What’s better, the ELF Jelly Highlighter is extremely versatile as it can be worn alone, mixed with foundation or over your makeup.  I liked how the jelly gave off a silent shimmer. Just enough to give a subtle glow.  I really liked the ELF Jelly Highlighter as the jelly highlighter gave a better glow-like finish.  The ELF Jelly Highlighter retails for $6.00.  It may be purchased at Target, Amazon and www.elfcosmetics.com.

If I had to choose between both highlighters, I would choose the ELF Jelly Highlighter.  It gives off a beautiful glowing finish, and remains on the skin for a longer period of time.  Go out and buy the ELF Jelly Highlighter today.

MY FAVORITE 3 DRUGSTORE MICELLAR CLEANSING WATERS

January 16, 2019

Used as a skin cleanser and makeup remover, including waterproof makeup, micellar water is a must have for skincare.  But with all of the brand name micellar waters in drugstores, which do you choose?  Personally, I have not only one, but three brands of micellar cleansing waters I enjoy using. So in no particular order, here they are:

1.)  SIMPLE WATER BOOST MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER – this cleansing water is fairly new to the market.  It is devoted to reducing the early signs of dehydration: dryness, roughness, tight feeling, dullness and dry dehydration lines. It leaves your skin revitalized and re-hydrated without irritation.  The Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water is infused with skin-loving minerals and plant-extras, with no color, dyes nor harsh chemicals nor artificial perfumes.  In fact, it works like a magnet, picking up dirt and makeup and leaving your skin revitalized and dewy fresh.

The Simple Water Boost Micellar Water is priced at $6.77 for 13.5 ounces.

2)  L’OREAL MICELLAR CLEANSING MICELWATER – one of the better things that I can say about this micellar water is that not only does it clean your face from dirt and makeup, it intensely purifies.  Even waterproof eye makeup comes off without any oily residue, and comes off in one sweep.  If you suffer dry skin, like I do, this product is very hydrating. More so, the L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water provides no irritation, making it great for those with sensitive skin. Being soothing, gentle and effective is why I am attracted to the product, and recommend you try it too.

The L’Oreal Micellar Cleansing Water sells in a 13.5 ounce package at the cost of $9.99.

3)  GARNIER SKINACTIVE MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER – almost everyone has heard of this brand.  It is the most popular micellar water brand on the market today.  This particular micellar water is paraben-free, fragrance-free, sulfate-free and silicone-free.  The Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleansing Water washes off impurities from your skin without the tightening and drying effect that is very common with ordinary cleansers. Whenever I use this micellar water to rid the tough, long lasting makeup, it also removes the makeup residue left behind without any vigorous rubbing.  Once I am finished removing the makeup and grime, my skin feels refreshed and revitalized.

But be warned, while the Garnier Skinactive Micellar Water is very tough on grime, this micellar water may cause your skin to be irritated and cause breakouts. And unfortunately, the Garnier Skinactive Micellar Cleanser Water does not have a money back guarantee.

The Garnier Skinactive Micellar Water retails for $8.99 for a 13.5 ounce package.

All three Micellar waters remove makeup and grime without harsh rubbing. They even removes water-resistant and long-lasting makeup with just a swipe.  I definitely recommend these drugstore micellar waters.  Anyone will do a  good job and meet your needs.
