Professional makeup cleansers are filled with chemicals and can cost upwards of $25.00 for about 8 ounces. But why not clean your brushes for less with natural products? I did some research and found some ways to clean your makeup brushes naturally. Here are the top three natural ways to clean your brushes:
Vinegar Cleanser
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp dish soap (I prefer Dawn)
1 tbsp vinegar
Mix the three ingredients in a bowl, and swirl your brushes in this concoction. Rinse your brushes with water and squeeze the excess water out. Let brushes air dry.
Castile Soap Cleanser
6 tbsp of Liquid Castile soap
3 drops of lavender oil
3 drops tea tree oil
Mix all three ingredients together in a bowl. Rinse all of your makeup brushes and swirl in the mixture. After placing your brush in the mixture, rinse the brushes in warm water. Squeeze the excess water from the brushes and allow to air dry.
Coconut Oil Cleanser
3 parts antibacterial soap
1 part coconut oil
Mix both ingredients on a plate and swirl your makeup brushes in the mixture.
Take each brush and rub back and forth on your hand to rid of the makeup.
Rinse the brushes under running water and squeeze out the excess water. Allow brushes to air dry.
So how often do you need to cleanse your brushes? Most people say once a month. I personally try to clean the brushes I use the most twice a month.
