I don’t know if this happens to you, but it sure does happen to me. I take my time to make sure that my eye makeup is just right. Then I have to be sure my eyeshadow is blended, my eyeliner is straight, and my mascara is just right. Come 5pm or 6pm, BAM, my eye makeup has faded and smeared. I look as if I have just gotten into a fight with a tsunami, and the tsunami won. UGH! Well, I did some research and found some ways on how to make your eye makeup last past 6pm and I wanted to share it with you.
- Try using an oil-free primer or try patting setting powder on your eyelids prior putting on your eye makeup.
- Try misting your eyeshadow brush with water prior to placing your eye makeup brush into your eyeshadow pan. The wet eyeshadow will enhance the appearance of your shadow. But beware, if you use too much water you will screw up your eyeshadow along with the look you are trying to achieve.
- After achieving your look, try to use a good setting spray. Personally I use setting sprays made for makeup artists (i.e. Ben Nye and Mehron Barrier Spray).
- Finally when shopping for eye makeup look for labels such as “waterproof” and “long lasting”. Chances are these products will help give your makeup a longer duration.
I hope that the above tips will be useful to you. I use apply these tips all the time, especially when going out for the evening and my eye makeup really does last longer. Do you have a tip on how to make eye makeup last longer?
