We have all heard of Cover Girl, L’Oreal, Maybelline, Estee Lauder and Bobbi Brown. But then there are the independent brands such as Jeffree Star Cosmetics and Huda Beauty, both of which are just as beautiful as your drugstore and cosmetic counter brands. Sometimes even better than these major brand cosmetics. So I thought I would do a little research, and see which independent cosmetics are just as good, if not better, than the more well known cosmetics.
1. Nudestix – This brand was discovered by two teenage sisters and their mother. The sisters, Aly and Taylor. They designed their line of foundations, concealers, lip balms, and eyeshadows to be packaged as easy-to-apply pencils. Each product comes in a mirrored tin. Plus, these products can be used in multiple ways. For example, the lip color can be used on your cheeks.
2. Morphe – I personally use the Morphe cosmetic brushes and eyeshadow palettes. With their eyeshadow palettes, you get three times as many colors as your typical eyeshadow palette. You’ll never, ever have to worry about finding that right shade or purple of brown! One of the better Morphe palettes is the Jaclyn Hill palette. As for their brushes, I own plenty of them. The brushes are sturdy, full and easy to clean.
3. Dose of Colors – This brand is known for highly pigmented lip colors. The makeup line is known for colors such as for bright pink to classic red which will not fade or budge. They go on wet, but dry down to a matte finish in less than a minute. Dose of Colors also sells brushes and eyeshadows. I have tried one of their pink shades of lipsticks. And these colors DO NOT move. However, I have not tried Dose of Colors’ brushes or eyeshadows, so I cannot comment on them.
4. Colourpop – This brand has a following of two million fans. And to make things even more enticing, nearly all of their prices are under $8.00! Their products include eyeshadows, eyeliners, blushes and lipsticks. And almost all new products sell out extremely fast. I have quite a few of the Colourpop eyeshadows, and I love them. The eyeshadows are pigmented and stay on for a majority of the day.
These are just a few of some of the independent brands that are out on the market. I would have to say that my favorite is Morphe. Great brushes and great eyeshadow palettes. Definitely worth trying! What is your favorite independent brand of makeup?
