Since I started shopping for makeup I have spent a small fortune throughout the years. During this period of time I taught myself how to save money whenever I can. And now I would like to share the money saving tips on beauty products with all you readers.
FANCY PACKAGING
Just because a product is wrapped in fancy packaging it does not mean the product is superior. The appearance and product name make be alike, but do not be fooled! Get your laptop out and search for dupes discovered by other shoppers.
BUY GENERIC
It is always tempting to purchase the newest, band name cosmetics. But more times than not, the generic counterpart is just as good. So the next time your are shopping for some eye cream or mascara, take a quick glance at the generic product before shelling out hard earned cash for the brand name. Chances are you can save some dollars.
RECYCLE
Do you have old or used cosmetics such as MAC, Kiehl’s and/or Lush cosmetics? Definitely take a gander at their policy for recycling and possibly get free containers in return.
MASCARA BRUSHES
Take the mascara wands from expensive mascara, and place the brushes in cheaper mascara. The brush is usually what you are paying more money for; buy reusing the brush with a cheaper mascara formula, you are saving money. Rinse the mascara brush in warm water to rid the wand of clumps, and your cheaper mascara is ready to go.
CUT YOUR BOTTLES
Do you have plastic bottles of lotion or foundation? Cut open the bottles and get all the product in the container that you may have missed.
GIFT CARDS
Save on discounted cards in order to help save money on your monthly makeup splurges. Go to www.raise.com for cheap gift cards for Sephora, MAC, and other department stores. There’s a chance you can save up to 5% or more off the face value of the card.
Those are just a few ideas on how to save some dollars when purchasing makeup. If you have some suggestions, please share.
