Epsom salt. It is no longer used to just cure sore muscles. More and more people are incorporating epsom salt into their beauty routine. But what are some of the best ways to use epsom salt in your beauty routine? Here are a few tips:
Greasy Hair – It happens to all of us; greasy, flat hair. To combat this annoying problem, add one part epsom salt along with equal part conditioner. Work this mixture into your hair and wait at least 20 minutes before rinsing. The mixture will help get rid of any extra oils which can leave your hair looking greasy and flat.
DIY Salt & Lemon Scrub – Why spend hundreds of dollars at a fancy spa for a salt scrub, when you can basically make the same type of scrub at home. But why epsom salt? Epsom salt is a natural mineral composed of magnesium sulfide, which is readily absorbed by the skin. It naturally softens skin, sloughs away dead cells, reduces inflammation, and relaxes muscles. For this scrub you will need the following:
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons of epsom salt
4 tablespoons olive oil
Juice of one lemon
In a bowl, combine the 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of epsom salt plus 4 tablespoons of olive oil. Squeeze the juice of one lemon in the same bowl and stir all ingredients together. Place this mixture in a jar with a tight fitting lid and use at least once a week for glowing skin. You may use this scrub dry or in the shower. If you choose to use the former, rinse off with warm water afterwards.
Get Rid Of Those Flaky Lips – We have reached the fall season and before you know it, winter will be here. Many of us will get into the habit of licking our lips, thus resulting in a very flaky pout. To get rid of this mess, mix a few tablespoons of epsom salts with petroleum jelly and rub the mixture onto your lips. Afterwards, gently wipe the mixture off of your lips.
You do not always have to spend of $50.00 to achieve luxurious skin. Go to your local pharmacy and spend less than $10.00 on a bag of epsom salt to achieve the beauty status you so desire.
