Today it seems as if everyone is on a budget. The last thing we want to do is spend our hard earned money on expensive makeup brush cleaners. I have found two ways to clean your makeup brushes with ordinary household products.
1) Ingredients:
1 cup of warm water
1 tablespoon of dish detergent
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
Mix all of the above ingredients, then stir your brushes in the liquid. If the liquid becomes too dirty, dump out the dirty water and repeat the ingredient process. Do not worry about your brushes smelling like vinegar. The dish detergent will prevent the brushes from smelling like vinegar. Rinse your brushes in clear water and squeeze out any excess water. Reshape your brushes and set your brushes on a paper towel to dry.
2) Ingredients:
1 cup of warm water
1 tablespoon of Baby Shampoo
Mix all of the above ingredients, then stir your brushes in the liquid. If the liquid becomes too dirty, dump the dirty water and repeat the ingredient process. Rinse your brushes in clear water and squeeze out any excess water. Reshape your brushes and set your brushes on a paper towel to dry.
It is extremely important to clean your brushes on a regular basis. It will help prevent breakouts, get rid of excess color and residue, and keep your brushes looking new.
What is your favorite way of cleaning your makeup brushes?

I've used baby shampoo for a long time but now I've started using facial cleanser, I find it to remove the gunk better. However, I only use it on synthetic brushes, the real hair brushes stick to baby shampoo. LOL!

I've used my Bath and Body hand soap on my brushes a few times. Why do you add the vinegar to the dish soap, I'm curious?

I agree with you Shireen. If you have natural hair brushes, stick with baby shampoo.

The vinegar disinfects and the soap helps clean and adds a nice scent. Hope that answers your question Miki! Thanks for writing.
